Viva La V!

SOTD: Lady Gaga - Poker Face

So since the last blog, I've started Spring semester and started at the hospital. Let me say in one day, I've seen things that I would've never thought to see in my whole life. I've seen multiple liver transplants, heart and orthopedic surgeries. I didn't realize that on my first day I'd get pushed into the OR room and experience these sights. I thought they would prep me first, but they sure didn't. It was also very cold in the OR rooms as well. I don't know if my legs were shaking due to the fact that it was cold in there, or was it because I was shaking from being shocked and perhaps scared? I didn't faint or squeal or anything, it's just so surreal seeing a surgery happen 2 feet away from you. I'm ok with seeing loads of blood and the insides of a person, but I hate seeing the needle or blade insertions into a person's epithelial layer. I cringe when I am watching that happen. It's day 3 out of my 5 volunteer days there. On the 5th day, the people I've been shadowing are going to evaluate my 5 days there and decide if I will be capable of handling the work and also if I've made a decision for myself as to whether or not this internship is what I'm truly interested in. No matter what the outcome, I'd have to say that this is a once in a lifetime experience seeing exactly how the OR is ran.

On another note, in about 6 hours I will be in lovely.......

yay! This is going to be the first 2009 get away/vaycay. I'll be there from Thursday - Sunday. Fun fun fun! Unfortunately, the weather there won't be too beautiful, but similar to San Francisco weather. Supposedly it's highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's. Oh well, I'm used to the hot and sunny mornings/afternoons, then cold evenings once the sun sets. I'm just so lazy to pack right now even though I won't have much to pack since it's just a weekend trip. I have to remember to pack all my toiletries. I remember I forgot to pack my toothbrush after using it in the morning for a trip before and it sucked. I had to go to a gas station to buy a toothbrush mid roadtrip to buy a janky overpriced toothbrush. There will be no doubt that everything will be overpriced in Sin City as well so I hope my homemade "checklist" is complete. Signing over and out. See ya later San Francisco!

Happy New Year Out With The Old and In With The New *2009*

SOTD: Kanye West - Robocop

Happy New Year to everyone!

As I reflect on my past year, I realize that it's been filled with a lot of different experiences. Both good and bad. I've met a lot of new people, gotten close with people that have already been in my life and was able to see the true selves of some of my friends as well. All in all, I feel that 2008 was a pretty slow year for me. Nothing major happened.

I'm really excited to look forward to what 2009 is going to present to me. I got to roll in the New Year with my best friends at AT&T Park in SF. I believe the people you spend New Years with at midnight will be the people you spend the rest of the year with. Crazy superstitious? I know. Anywho, supposedly, the year of the Ox (according to the Chinese zodiac) will be offending the yearly God this lunar new year. =( Definitely not looking forward to a bad year this year, or any year as a matter of fact. Therefore, my relatives and I are planning to visit the temple next weekend in Yuba City before the start of the Lunar new year to try to pray for protection and peace of our whole family.

I've been a bum at home lately and it feels great, yet pretty boring at the same time. All I've been doing is waking up early, I can't sleep past 8:45am and it sucks. I wake up and watch dramas, eat, and sleep. I've been able to spend more time with my mom though when she doesn't have work so that has been fun. My mom actually doesn't want me to go out because of the fact that I am not currently under any health insurance plan. She is so worried that I can't go on any vacations with my friends. She's not a pessimist, she's just thinking, "what if...?" I've had to pass up trips to visit friends at their colleges, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. I was really looking forward to going on the trips to get my mind off things and just enjoy my winterbreak. On a brighter note (because I'm such an optimistic), I am saving money! I've been trying to cut down on my leisurely spending ever since last month. I can't buy the fancy things I want to eat, cute things I wanna play with or look at, and absolutely goodbye to designer labels. Has anyone ever noticed how expensive it is to go out and buy drinks these days? $5 for a Starbucks/Jamba Juice/Dessert and $10+ for alcoholic beverages! Now I know where my money went! Into my stomach haha. There will be one thing that I will be splurging on though. That's the Hello Kitty for MAC in February. I can't resist!

Therefore, onto my New Years Resolutions...

1. Be frugal, very frugal. haha
2. Read more on a daily basis. This applies for school and leisure. I haven't read a book leisurely for about 3 years.
3. Spend more time in the kitchen/living room having real conversations with my family.
4. Catch up with old friends more. I've neglected a lot of people that were good to me. I'm sorry.

5. To smile more while never neglecting to say "please" and "thank you" to people that assist me on a daily basis
6. Keep my room cleaned!!

...to be continued

Here's a pic of my Mighty Morphing Power Rangers crew at a relative's wedding I went to last night. It's a pic of the "older" cousins our mom's side. I love this pic because it reminds me of the pic on grandma's fridge lol.
